Homemade Fruit & Vegetable Wash

1 cup water
1 cup vinegar
2 Tablespoon baking soda
2 Tablespoon lemon juice

  • Mix all ingredients in a large bowl. Mix well; be cautious as vinegar and baking soda will fizz. Pour into a clean spray bottle. Spray produce generously and let sit for 5 minutes then rinse well.

Fresh Produce Soak:

1/2 cup vinegar
3 TBS salt

  • Mix ingredients and stir to dissolve salt. Add water to sink then add mixture stirring to mix. Soak 15 to 20 minutes. Remove, and pat dry.

Additional ideas for you to try –

1 – Always start with a sink that is thoroughly cleaned or use a plastic dishpan.

2 – Baking Soda can be used as a scrub to remove dirt and residue.

3 – Vinegar and water mixed at 50/50 also is a good fruit and vegetable cleaner.

4 – Fill your clean sink with water, add ¼ cup apple cider vinegar and soak fruit 15 minutes, rinse before preparing.

5 – Fill the sink with fruit and vegetables then add water. For every gallon of water in the sink add 4 drops of Grapefruit Seed Extract and add 1/8 cup salt. Soak for 10 to 12 minutes then rinse with clear water.

6 – Remember to wash the rinds of melons and squash before cutting. That way you don’t drag pesticides and toxins across your fruit as you cut it.
